BBC: Kremlin Wants Trump To Cancel Two Laws In Ukraine

The results of Zelensky's meeting with the US presidential candidate alarmed the Russian Federation.

The Kremlin wants US presidential candidate Donald Trump, if he returns to the White House, to achieve the “cancellation” of two laws in Ukraine for a “step forward” towards peace.

We are talking about the laws on language and the ban on the Moscow Patriarchate. This statement was made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, quoted by the BBC, commenting on Trump's statements about the need for a “fair agreement” on Ukraine, made after a meeting with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky in New York.

“Trump said some time ago that he would need 24 hours, now the wording is different,” said the minister of the aggressor country, adding that the Russian Federation “will welcome any initiatives that lead to the desired result.”

In clarifying what he meant by the “desired outcome,” Lavrov began repeating the Kremlin narratives that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was due to alleged Western attempts to “drag Kyiv into NATO” and to “oppress” Russian speakers. In his statement, he mentioned the language laws and the ban on international relations.

“If Mr. Trump manages to repeal these laws, that will already be a step forward,” he said.
