'Nasrallah Was Killed While Watching Netanyahu's UN Speech'

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took part in an operation to deceive Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah.

A senior Israeli official has revealed the details of the plan to The Telegraph.

Netanyahu left Israel for New York to “trick” the Hezbollah leader into thinking he was safe.

Netanyahu's speech at the UN General Assembly was part of a “diversionary plan” that was aimed at making Hassan Nasrallah believe Israel would not carry out a military operation while the prime minister was out of the country.

Israel struck Beirut on Friday, with a powerful air strike that rocked the Lebanese capital. The official said Nasrallah was believed to have been watching Netanyahu's speech on television “and was targeted by the Israeli Air Force”.

“Netanyahu approved the strike before his speech at the UN General Assembly,” the official added.

The attack came minutes after Netanyahu vowed to continue operations against Hezbollah during his speech at the UN.

The Israeli prime minister gave a strong speech, telling delegates that Israel would “continue to weaken Hezbollah until all objectives are achieved”.

Israel announced the killing of Hassan Nasrallah in a precision airstrike. Senior Hezbollah commanders were killed along with him.
