According to Trump, the initiative on the meeting was coming from the President of Ukraine, and he agreed to it.

‘President Zelensky has asked to meet with me, and I will meet with him tomorrow morning around 9:45 at Trump Tower,’ Trump was quoted as saying by the reporter.
