She promised to work to ensure that Ukraine ‘prevails in this war’.

On Thursday, September 26, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with the US presidential candidate from the Democratic Party, Vice President Kamala Harris.

During a joint press conference broadcast by the White House, Harris said that she was proud to support Ukraine, would continue to support it and work to ensure that Ukraine ‘prevails in this war’. She also emphasised that Ukraine's struggle is important to the American people and that supporting Kyiv is in line with US strategic interests.

‘History has shown us that if we allow aggressors like Putin to seize territory with impunity, they don't stop. And Putin could target Poland, the Baltic states and other NATO allies. We also know that other potential aggressors in the world are watching. If Putin is allowed to win, it will only encourage them. And history clearly reminds us that the United States cannot and should not isolate itself from the rest of the world,’ Harris said.

The Vice President noted that the conditions for ending the war should not be discussed without Ukraine.

Harris also separately emphasised that proposals for Ukraine to ‘surrender a significant part of its sovereign territory and accept ‘neutrality’ are inappropriate and dangerous. These are not offers of peace but of surrender, and they are no different from Putin's, the politician added.
