Shocking figures.

According to the UK MoD, Russia has suffered its heaviest daily losses since the war began in the last four months. The British military estimates that Russia lost an average of 1,262 troops killed and wounded each day in May, 1,163 in June, 1,140 in July, and 1,187 in August. Russian losses are expected to average more than 1,000 a day in September, the New York Post reported on September 24.

UK officials said the Kremlin's casualty figures peaked in May, due to heavy fighting in Kharkiv. They were almost four times higher than in March 2022, the first full month since Russia began its invasion of Ukraine, when UK officials said it was losing about 386 soldiers a day.

British intelligence estimates that about a million troops on both sides have been killed or wounded since Russia began its invasion in February 2022.

Russia has likely suffered more than 610,000 casualties. Western intelligence estimates that the number of Russians killed is approaching 200,000, with the number of wounded at around 400,000, according to a Wall Street Journal article.
