Why Did Lukashenka Admit His Health Was Bad?

Two reasons.

Political scientist Valer Karbalevich, in an article for Radio Svaboda, named two reasons why he admitted that his health was not good:

— For 29 years he did not notice that July was a difficult, stressful month. And then, in the 30th year of his reign, he noticed. And communication with people has now become strained. Moreover, a considerable part of them curse him. This recognition, which suddenly came out, is worth a lot. This shows that all propaganda postulates about “national unity” in support of the regime are an artificial PR construction. And he understands this.

And long-distance flights over 4,000 kilometers are no longer easy. Therefore, “days like these are difficult.”

How can one explain such unusual frankness? I think there may be two reasons for this. One of them is more obvious.

The fact is that on July 5, the Dozhd TV channel reported that Lukashenka’s condition during his visit to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Astana began to “deteriorate sharply in front of the participants” of the forum. And in order to somehow mitigate the negative consequences of this information, the Belarusian ruler began to make excuses, to somehow explain himself.

As a result, it turned out that Lukashenka indirectly confirmed what was said on the Dozhd channel, admitting that he was indeed having “hard days.” If it is impossible to hide an unpleasant reality, then you need to give it your own explanation. The move is quite rational.

The second reason cited by the political scientist is Lukashenka’s desire to see the reaction of his officials to information about his deteriorating health.
