These funds were supposed to go to the construction of an NPP.

The money that Russia's Rosatom is transferring to Turkey for the construction of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant has been seized.

Head of the Russian state corporation Alexey Likhachev said this in an interview with TASS, DS reports.

“The system of mutual settlements is under attack. They are seizing money,” the official complained.

According to him, “Americans” are responsible for the seizure of funds, who allegedly “go between legal entities and banks” working with Rosatom.

The implementation of the nuclear power plant project in Turkey, which is estimated at $25 billion and is fully paid for by Russia, is being hampered by sanctions, Likhachev admitted. Although Rosatom itself is not under Western restrictive measures, several of its subsidiaries are included in the sanctions lists.

Among them are JSC Atomstroy, which develops technologies for the installation of nuclear installations, and VPO Tochmash, which produces centrifuges for uranium enrichment.
