It has become known why the facility will not be built.

The plans for the construction of an indoor year-round ski complex in the capital have changed. There will be no such facility. This was reported by the Chairman of the Architecture and Urban Development Committee of the Minsk City Executive Committee Viktar Hutsko, writes Minsk-Novosti.

A year-round indoor ski complex was planned to be built near the Svislach River in the area of Arlouskaya Street, or more precisely, behind the Supreme Court building. A plot of land was allocated for the investor of this sports facility at one time, but work never began within the period established by law. The site was seized.

— The territory of the planned ski complex became part of the new green zone and will be developed for this purpose. The construction of a sports facility there is not planned, — Hutsko said.

Information about the construction of the arena appeared in March 2018, when during a visit to the final of the “Snow Sniper” Aliaksandr Lukashenka said: “We want to build in the city — we copied the Finns and Swedes — a two-story building 100 meters long, with a 1,200 meters loop. It will be covered with snow inside, people will come and do something: some run along the winding track, some drink coffee.”

At the same time, it became known that the project would be implemented under the public-private partnership scheme. At that time, the investors in the construction of the ski arena were the Minsk developers “Sovavto Invest” and “Intekhnostroy Invest”. In exchange for this, with Lukashenka's permission, they received the right to build multi-story housing on the sites on Zakharava, Chyhunachnaya and Vaupshasava in Minsk. But later, the company “SkiStroyInvest” invested in the construction and got these three sites as well.

In 2020, SkiStroyInvest presented a visualization of the facility, and in November 2021, information appeared in the Unified State Register of Real Estate about the allocation of a 5.3-hectare site for the construction of the facility “All-season indoor arena for cross-country skiing in the Arlouskaya Street area in Minsk”.
