Russian high-ranking accomplices in crimes will be punished.

The Kremlin's recent “peace proposals” are merely an attempt to legitimize Russia's illegal, full-scale invasion of Ukraine and undermine peace efforts.

This is stated in a statement by the European Union, delivered at a meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council in Vienna, Ukrinform reports.

“The Kremlin's recent deceptive so-called “peace proposals” are merely an attempt to legitimize Russia's illegal and unprovoked, full-scale invasion of Ukraine and undermine peace efforts in accordance with the UN Charter, ignoring the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine,” the statement says.

At the same time, the European Union welcomed the results of the Peace Summit on Ukraine, which took place on June 15 and 16 in Switzerland, and noted that it is Ukraine that will determine the terms of the negotiations.

“The EU and its Member States will strive for a comprehensive, just and lasting peace based on the principles of the UN Charter and international law, including respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty, in accordance with the key principles and objectives of the Peace Formula for Ukraine. It is Ukraine that will determine the terms of the negotiations,” the EU states.

In addition, the European Union noted that ensuring accountability for all crimes committed during the Russian aggression “remains a top priority for achieving the just and lasting peace that Ukraine deserves.”

“There can be no impunity for any perpetrator or accomplice to Russia's crimes — even at the highest levels of power,” the statement said.

Earlier, dictator Putin stated that Ukraine must completely withdraw its troops from the four occupied regions in order to begin negotiations with the Russian Federation.
