ICC Issues Arrest Warrants For Shoigu And Gerasimov

The Hague awaits two more war criminals.

The Second Pre-Trial Chamber of the International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for former Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Federation Valery Gerasimov.

According to the court's statement, the warrants were issued for alleged international crimes committed in Ukraine from at least October 10, 2022 to at least March 9, 2023.

According to the court, Shoigu and Gerasimov are responsible for several war crimes: striking civilian objects, causing excessive incidental harm to civilians, ordering the commission of crimes, and failing to exercise proper control over forces under their command.

As reported by Charter97.org, the ICC issued an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin and Maria Lvova-Belova on March 17, 2023. The court ruled that they were responsible for war crimes related to the illegal deportation of the population (children).
