The law enforcers came to her mother's house with a search.

On October 8, law enforcers searched the flat of the mother of writer and journalist Hanna Zlatkouskaya. She reported about it on her Facebook page.

Hanna Zlatkouskaya told Zerkalo that on Monday, October 7, her mother received a letter from the Investigative Committee informing her that the summer house had been seized by a decision of its central apparatus. This dacha is Hanna's personal property.

’My mother called the Agency for State Registration and Land Cadastre. They confirmed to her that the arrest had been made. And they said to call the Investigative Committee for all the details,’ says the interlocutor.

Already on Tuesday, October 8, they came to her mother's flat, where Hanna is registered, with a search in a criminal case. The Belarusian can't say from which particular law enforcement agency came, as her mother was signed a letter of non-disclosure.

’Her mother said that they were polite, they didn't make a mess, didn't take anything away. They just looked at the flat and talked to her. They asked about me,’ said Zlatkouskaya.

The law enforcers also did not tell about the criminal case.

‘Mother asked, but they didn't answer. They said they could only tell me personally,’ Hanna said. ‘And how can they tell me personally, if I live in Lithuania, right? And if I call, they say come and find out everything on the spot. As far as I've heard, this happens to everyone. My mate's is in the same situation. Everything's been arrested and re-arrested, a criminal case has been opened. She doesn't know under what article’.

Hanna says that it makes no sense to hire a lawyer in this case. According to her, there is an option to turn to a Lithuanian lawyer, to draw up an appeal and send it to Belarus.

’Of course, I'll ask around, but I'm not sure it makes any sense. It's something completely pointless,’ she says. ‘I don't want the summer house to be taken away, of course. It's such a release for Mum, she's put so much effort into it. Mum was almost crying there, realising that they might take it away. But I don't know how to prevent it from being taken away’.

Hanna Zlatkouskaya is a writer, journalist, columnist. She is the author of two books: ‘It's Scary to Live, Mum’ and ‘Hunting for Butterflies’.
