Putin Stops Flying To Sochi Because He Fears Ukrainian Drone Attacks

Russian dictator Putin has stopped flying to Sochi for fear for his own life after drone attacks on facilities in the city, the Russian edition of the Agency reported, citing sources.

It is noted that the last time Putin flew to the south was seven months ago. In 2024, the Russian dictator held only one meeting in Sochi - with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi on March 6.

The publication claims that Putin has not appeared on the Black Sea coast of Krasnodar Krai since that date, although he previously spent most of the spring and autumn in Sochi.

In 2023, the dictator spent a record low amount of time at his Bocharov Ruchei residence. The agency writes that Putin officially stayed in Sochi for only eight days, whereas before the COVID-19 pandemic he could spend more than 30 days a year in the city. The dictator spent the most time in the city in May, September, October and November.

According to the publication, in September-October 2023, Ukrainian drones began to fly into Sochi. In particular, on the night of October 1, a drone landed on the territory of the Sochi airport, damaging the helipad.

The defence ministry of the aggressor country also reported another attack on October 14. Between these attacks, Putin flew to Sochi, where he held a meeting with the head of Russian-occupied Abkhazia, Aslan Bzhania, and spoke at a plenary session of the Valdai Club.
