Will Israel Strike Iran's Nuclear Facilities?

  • 3.10.2024, 10:54

The country is weighing several options.

The Israel Defense Forces are not planning to strike Iran's nuclear facilities. However, Israel is considering other options to respond to an Iranian missile attack.

This is reported by the Financial Times.

As the publication notes, the US and Western allies are trying to limit Israel's response to the Iranian attack in the hope of preventing the regional conflict from spiraling out of control.

Washington has made it clear that it supports Israel's right to respond. However, US officials acknowledge that their influence over Israel may be limited.

The FT notes that Israel is weighing several options in response to Iran, including attacks on missile launchers or oil infrastructure. Some Israeli officials have called for strikes on its nuclear facilities, although a person familiar with the matter said that option was not being considered. US President Joe Biden has also said he would oppose such a response.

The US and other Western allies are urging Israel to focus on military targets.

Western officials say Israel is becoming increasingly confident and bold after the elimination of Hezbollah's leadership. The Israeli government may be willing to suffer military and political losses if it means achieving a strategic victory over Iran, the officials say.
