The documents were handed over to the ICC by Lithuania.

Polish Foreign Ministry supports Lithuania's appeal to the International Criminal Court against Lukashenka. This was stated by spokesman for the Polish Foreign Ministry Pawel Wroński in a commentary for ‘Belsat’ on Wednesday.

‘The Lithuanian government's appeal to the International Criminal Court and the study by the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court of the situation in the Republic of Belarus for possible crimes against humanity could be an important step to ensure the accountability of Aliaksandr Lukashenka's regime representatives from May 2020.

We agree that there are reasonable grounds to believe that the Lukashenka regime may have committed the crimes defined in the Statute of the International Criminal Court. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with other competent authorities, has been analysing this issue, and this process will continue. We will familiarise ourselves with the arguments of the Lithuanian side with interest, which means that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland fully supports the Lithuanian appeal,’ he said.
