‘Lukashenka Deeply Traumatised’

The dictator is truly afraid.

Early ‘elections’ in Belarus are the result of Lukashenka's fear. This was stated by Belarusian independent political analyst Valeryj Karbalevich in an interview with PAP.

‘Lukashenka is truly afraid of protests because the trauma (from the mass protests) of 2020 is very heavy, deep and persists - despite that more than four years have passed,’ said Karbalevich.

Lukashenka has not stopped fearing the opposition.

‘In my opinion, the only ones who take this campaign seriously are Lukashenka himself and the authorities. It's no coincidence that these elections are held six months ahead of schedule, by the way, in violation of the Constitution,’ notes the political scientist.

‘Lukashenka is constantly talking about the opposition, being asked and not asked, every chance he gets, even if he is talking about a completely different topic. One can see that it still bothers him. He constantly says that they are preparing provocations, rebellion, sabotage groups,’ listed Karbalevich.

According to him, all Belarusian journalists know that the topic of the opposition is a ‘trigger’ that puts Lukashenka off balance.

‘The reason is that the opposition claims power, while he believes that there is only one person who can own power in Belarus,’ assessed the PAP interlocutor.
