FT: The West Is Considering New Option For Ukraine In NATO

Many politicians in the West understand that a new approach is needed regarding Ukraine. In this regard, experts recalled post-war Germany, when the country was divided into the FRG and the GDR. However, the difference is that Germany has clearly defined borders between the two regions, while Ukraine does not have such clear borders.

At the same time, no one believes that Putin will peacefully give back the occupied territories, as was the case with the unification of Germany into a single country. Germany became a member of NATO in 1955.

Ukraine may also follow this path. A survey by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology showed that 47% of Ukrainians are ready to accept the loss of territories for the sake of membership in NATO and the EU.

Concrete steps in this direction can only begin after the name of the new US president becomes known. At the same time, Germany, France and Britain will also play an important role in the NATO issue.
