A Russian saboteur detained in Poland has confessed.

Sergei S., a 51-year-old Ukrainian citizen detained in Poland in February, has confessed that ‘Russian services ordered him to set Wrocław on fire’.

This was stated by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, who is quoted by Wiadomosci.

Sikorski said the detainee's testimony shows that the Kremlin was planning similar actions across Europe.

‘We have other similar arson attacks across Europe and we are aware of Russia's plans for further arson attacks. Tomorrow I will announce the Foreign Ministry's decisions on this,’ the minister said.

Sergei S. was detained in mid-February by officers of the Internal Security Service. The man was allegedly preparing to carry out sabotage in Wrocław, such as setting fire to objects located near critical infrastructure. Reportedly, this was to be a paint factory.

The suspect has recently entered into an agreement with the prosecutor's office. However, the Wrocław District Court rejected it. According to the court, the punishment of 3 years' imprisonment is too soft. According to the procedure, the prosecutor's office must file a new indictment, and the case will be conducted in the usual court procedure with the questioning of witnesses and the analysis of all evidence.
