The race, however, remains unpredictable.

On Sunday, October 20, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump overtook Vice President Kamala Harris in an election poll for the first time.

This was reported by The Hill.

According to the poll results, as of October 20, Trump's chances of winning the presidential race are 52%, while Harris's are 42%.

As the publication notes, since the end of August, Harris's chances of winning were approximately 54-56%, while Trump's chances were 44-46%.

Already in early October, the gap began to narrow, and on October 17, both candidates had approximately equal chances, and on October 20, the former president gained the advantage.

The change in Trump's favor is due to his improved performance in Wisconsin and Michigan. As journalists write, he also has a slight advantage in Arizona, Georgia, and North Carolina. Of the seven states that could be decisive in determining the outcome of the 2024 election, only Pennsylvania still favors Harris. However, the publication emphasizes that the forecast for the race remains unpredictable, since the poll results in all seven states remain within the margin of error, meaning that typical polling inaccuracies can shift the results in either direction.
