Dust Storm Hits Belarusian Cities

Dust, raised by the wind from the Caspian steppes, has reached the Belarusian cities.

The desert sand covered Homel and Mahiliou. They started to report it as early as October 1.

The east wind also brought smoke from fires in the border areas of Bryansk region of the Russian Federation and Chernihiv region of Ukraine to Homel and the north-east of Homel region. Fires have been burning there since August 2024.

The air pollution is also recorded by specialised services.
