Lithuanian Justice Ministry: Other Nations Will Join Bringing Lukashenka To Justice In The Hague Initiative

The necessary work will be done.

The Lithuanian Justice Ministry has taken "all necessary legal steps" to initiate an investigation by the International Criminal Court into the crimes committed by Aliaksandr Lukashenka and his accomplices against the citizens of Belarus, Deputy Justice Minister of the Baltic state Gabija Grigaitė-Daugirdė told Pozirk.

"Now it is time for the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry and our other colleagues to work to ensure that other countries join these charges," she said.

It is also noted that the Lithuanian Justice Ministry has no doubt that other nations will join the initiative to bring Lukashenka to justice.

Let us recall that on September 30, Lithuania exercised its right under the Rome Statute and transferred materials on “cross-border crimes against humanity committed by Aliaksandr Lukashenka and his accomplices against Belarusians” to the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague. Since the alleged crimes were committed both on the territory of Belarus and on the territory of the countries party to the Rome Statute, the International Criminal Court potentially “has jurisdiction.”
