Tusk: Situation With Migrants On Border With Belarus Has Become Emergency

The Polish Prime Minister said that there are many terrorists among the illegals.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk called the situation with the influx of illegal migrants on the Polish-Belarusian border an emergency. He touched on this topic in an interview with the newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza.

According to Tusk, it is mainly citizens of countries with which Warsaw has not concluded an agreement on readmission (the extradition of illegal migrants to their country of origin) who are trying to get to Poland.

At the same time, Poland's western neighbors, where migrants mainly try to penetrate, are increasingly resorting to the EU Dublin Regulation. According to this document, EU countries can redirect asylum applications to EU countries where the illegal migrant crossed the border.

In addition, often among the migrants who want to get to Polish territory there are people with a criminal past or those associated with terrorism.

“We are receiving alarming signals from Syria about criminals or people connected to terrorist groups,” Tusk stated.

He added that “they are being released from prisons, grouped into pseudo-migrants and sent to Belarus, to the Polish border.”
