In the coming weeks or months.

The dynamics of the fighting in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation is such that the Russians are slowly but surely advancing, pushing the Ukrainians out.

Analyzing the situation in the Kursk region after the start of the Ukrainian Armed Forces operation, open data analysis expert Julian Röpcke came to the conclusion that the Ukrainians may leave Russian territory in the coming weeks or months, BILD wrote on October 14.

Röpcke notes that Russian troops continue to advance on Ukrainian Armed Forces positions in the Kursk region from the west, to the villages of Lyubimovka and Novoivanovka, and they have also driven the Ukrainians out of the last village near the regional center of Korenevo. In addition, Russian troops are reducing the Ukrainian foothold from the east.

As the Bild analyst notes, the dynamics in the Kursk region are such that after about three months of fighting, “Russia has largely been able to regain control.”

“Although the big battle for Sudzha, the only city captured by the Ukrainians, has not even begun yet. Therefore, we do not yet know how long the Ukrainians will be able to hold out there, how good a defense they have built there. Most likely, we will see this in the coming weeks, or months at the latest,” Julian Röpcke suggests.

The analyst also reported that the Russian Armed Forces are increasingly using drones in the Kursk region, which are controlled via fiber-optic cable with a range of up to 8 kilometers — Ukrainian electronic warfare systems are powerless against them.
