New Explosion In Engels: Russia Might Have Lost Two Important Facilities

The airbase will temporarily cease its operations.

A powerful explosion has once again occurred at Russian military airfields. This time it is said to have killed dozens of people and put Engels airfield itself out of action.

Colonel of the AFU reserve, military expert, flight instructor Roman Svitan told Channel 24 about it. He is convinced that the airfield will cease to function for the time being.

Information has emerged of at least 17 dead Russian servicemen, 26 wounded, damage to five aircraft, and in general this airbase and command and control post (CCP) has been deactivated for the time being.

According to Svitan, the falling of the flying object on the tower where the control room was located has put the entire Engels airfield out of action for at least a while.

"We can say that the entire control shift that was at that point was completely disabled," Svitan added.

It will be possible to find out exactly how many people died only after the war, the military officer stressed. But given the number of people who would usually be present at the CCP, we can speak about dozens of people killed or injured.

According to the military expert, it was possible to postpone that wave of missiles, prepared by the Russians to strike Ukraine, in two ways: either by hitting the CCP tower, or by hitting the special SIS engineering service. It is based at this airfield and prepares the missiles for flight: refuels, inserts the warhead, etc.

"It is somewhat unique, this is where the KA-55 missiles were transferred at one time, there are KA-101, KA-555 missiles at this base as well," Svitan added.

He is convinced that either the CCP or the SIS has been destroyed at the Engels. This has led to the postponement of missile activity in Ukraine and the destruction of a certain number of personnel and equipment. The exact amount of equipment will be known after satellite images are obtained.
