Over the past day, about twenty illegal migrants from Belarus tried to get to Lithuania, none of them was allowed into the country, the State Border Guard Service (SOGG) reported on Wednesday.

On Monday, their number was 30, writes delfi.lt. None of them entered Lithuania illegally on Tuesday. Over the past day, migrants have tried to cross the border in Ignalina. Shalchininksky, Varensky, and Lazdijsky districts.

On Tuesday, when it was already dark, shots were fired in the Varensky district on the Belarusian side.

Recently, the 679 km border of Lithuania with Belarus is controlled not only on the ground but also from the air. Patrol flights are carried out by Lithuanian border guards and their colleagues from Latvia and Germany.

The SOGG stressed that the Lithuanians did not use service weapons, special equipment, or physical violence over the last day at the border.

More than 4.1 thousand migrants got to Lithuania across the border with Belarus this year. Lithuanian officials call the increased flows of illegal migration hybrid aggression of the Belarusian regime.

Due to the increase in illegal migration flows from the Belarusian territory, Lithuania has declared an emergency situation throughout the country, Latvia and Poland have introduced a state of emergency in areas bordering Belarus.
