Action in Warsaw: For Our Freedom and Yours! (Photo)

An action for holding new free election and against recognition of results of the “election” on September 28 was held in Warsaw on September 27.

A column of people under the national Belarusian flag and a poster “Free Election – Free Belarus!”, “For Our Freedom and Yours!” moved in the center of Warsaw, shouting “Free Belarus!”, “Yes to Belarus, No to Lukashenka!”. Warsaw dwellers and tourists welcomed the demonstrators and expressed their solidarity. The action was also attended by representatives of press, radio, and television.

At final point of the rally, near the building of the Polish Seim, a meeting was held, where an Address of polish and Belarusian non-governmental organisations to the authorities of Poland and the EU, describing the current election situation in Belarus and asking not to recognise the results of the “election” in Belarus. The address was handed to member of the Polish Seim Michał Szczerba, who is a member of the commission for relations with Belarus. He said he was sure the Polish government stood and would stand for such values as freedom and democracy. The address will be handed to the head of the Seim.
